Another new release coming from Bronco.

Bronco Models has sent in the artwork for another upcoming release:

Panzerkampfwagen I Ausf. F (VK18.01), kit #CB35143.  No release date has been posted, so I guess that gives me time to finish the old Alan kit of this tank that I have sitting in my filing cabinet at work.

Preview: Mirror Models Ltd. 1/35 CMP Mk. I Otter Recce Car

Mirror Models Ltd. 1/35 CMP Mk. I Otter Recce Car

One of the latest kits out from Mirror Models Ltd. is kit #35103, 1/35 CMP Mk. I Otter Recce Car.  Prior to this release, a 1/35 scale kit of the Otter had only been available in resin.  This kit consists of 157 injection molded and 18 resin parts.  A PE set with 80+ parts and 3 small pieces of wire are also included.

Overall, the kit looks very good.  The quality of parts moulding is good with a bare minimum of pin marks.  I thought that some of the sprue attachment points are rather thick which may lead to some issues.  I didn't notice much in the way of mould release agent on my sample.
One point about the kit that I don't care for, regardless of how minor it might be, is that it doesn't come with a Bren Gun, which was the usual armament found on this vehicle.  The instructions recommend obtaining one via LZ Models.  Additional photo etch parts for this kit are also available through LZ.

I plan on building this as an "out of the box" kit during the next couple of weeks.  I will post progress photos every several days.

Visit the Mirror Models Ltd. Otter specific page for more details about this kit. Thanks to Mirror Models Ltd. and LZ Models for the sample kit.

New book on the Patton Tank series by Michael Green

Michael Green has been writing books on armored vehicles for many, many years.  His latest book on the Patton series of tanks has been recently released by Pen and Sword Books.

The Patton Tank Cold War Warrior

This 207 page book is loaded with b&w photos of the M46, M47 and M48 Patton tanks and their variants.  Wartime and museum photos along with tech manual excerpts are included.

See the Pen and Sword Books website for more details.
My sample copy was provided by Pen and Sword Books.
Since I am a friend of Michael Green and have provided some photos for this book, I will not be reviewing it.

New books from David Doyle and Squadron-Signal Publications

David Doyle is a well known author in military vehicle circles and has been one of Squadron's leading authors for the past several years.  I just received two of his latest books published by Squadron-Signal Books:

M18 Hellcat Tank Destroyer Walk Around, SS67029

This 80 page book is loaded with color photographs of several different restored M18's.

Diamond T 4-ton Truck Walk Around, SS67031

80 pages of color photos of open/hard top cargo variants and open/hard top wreckers.  This will make a good reference if Mirror Models comes out with a Diamond T truck like they announced a few weeks ago.

Please note that I contributed photos to quite a few of David's books during the past few years, including the above Diamond T title.  As such, I won't be reviewing either title.

Thanks to David Doyle for the books.
